Rangers vs Islanders: Live

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm a die-hard New York Rangers fan. There was no need to watch tonight's game on TV because I was there! Since we got our asses kicked, I suppose that's a bad thing. But the game did have a number of highlights:

1. Brendan Shanahan's hat trick: He is unbelievable. Enough said.
2. Crowd booing Tom Poti: One of the worst Rangers defensemen EVER and probably the most vilified. He got traded to the Isles after last season and tonight was his first game back. Every time he stepped on the ice, touched the puck, lived, etc. he was booed mercilessly. Yes, I booed too.
3. Tom Poti falling on his ass: Cheers ensued. Priceless.
4. DP Sucks Chant: DP is DiPietro, the Isles goalie. The Rangers nearly made an unbelievable comeback when they brought the game to 4-3. The entire crowd launched into an initial "DP Sucks" chant, but then I heard a very young voice trying to start it up again. It was this cute, chubby kid who couldn't have been more than 7 years old. He was sitting with his dad and screaming "DP SUCKS." Ahh...the bleacher creatures of the future.
5. Insulting a fat Isles fan: Obviously, if someone shows up at a Rangers game in an Isles jersey, they know they're going to be abused at some point. When the Isles took a 4-0 lead, this woman stood up and started screaming and doing the Arsenio pump. Now, I don't want to be insensitive about her weight, so all I'll say is that she was wearing a regulation jersey and it was tight. Catch my drift? Anyway, she was standing for quite a few minutes when this guy yells out, "sit down, I can't see the ice." HAAA!! Am I mean for cracking up at that? She sat down and glared at him as if he stole her twinkie. Again, hilarious.
6. Yours truly taking a spill in the lobby: Yes, perhaps it was punishment for participating in the above. I was walking down the ramp toward the lobby when my foot made contact with the beverage-slicked floor. I took a crazy tumble and smashed my knee into the ground. Ouch! So, I'm typing this with a throbbing knee and a messed up back. Perhaps I should've sued. Oh well!

That being said, I'm going to take some advil and get ready for Seinfeld. Happy watching!
